PGY-3 Residents

Class of 2024

  • David Aguilar, MD

    Dr. Aguilar graduated from Wayne State University School of Medicine. He chose Franciscan for his residency because of the built-in support team provided to residents by faculty and other physicians. During his time in residency he has been able to explore interests such as taking a global health elective where he spent two weeks Ecuador. In his free time, he enjoys reading, being outdoors and spending time with family.

  • Emily Hamaker, MD

    Dr. Hamaker graduated from University of Minnesota. She was looking for a residency with well-rounded training and a strong community. When she had the opportunity to visit the residency, she immediately felt welcomed and a part of the community. She knew it was a place she would feel at home. She would like to practice full spectrum family medicine in a small town someday. She would love to continue OB care and is interested in getting involved in education at some point as well. Emily loves being active and outside. She especially enjoys running, biking, hiking, camping and skiing. She also loves spending time with family, especially her husband and son!

  • Casey Lesniak, DO

    Dr. Lesniak graduated from Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She chose Franciscan for the warm and welcoming attitude of the staff and faculty. She also felt the program would provide well-rounded training that would allow her to go into any area of family medicine. After residency, she hopes to stay in the Indianapolis area and practice outpatient family medicine with an emphasis on OB patients and children. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors, visiting new restaurants and spending time with her husband.

  • Zachary Lundy, DO

    Dr. Lundy graduated from Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He chose Franciscan for his residency primarily because of the amazing residents and faculty, but also because the program offered rigorous training while still maintaining a heavy focus on resident well-being. Ideally his future practice will incorporate outpatient medicine, inpatient medicine, and addiction medicine. He is also interested in academics and hopes to work with medical students and residents in the future. Dr. Lundy's hobbies include spending time with family and friends, traveling, reading, binging the latest Netflix/Hulu series and watching IU basketball (go Hoosiers!).

  • Natalya Mather, MD

    Dr. Mather graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine. She chose Franciscan because she felt it offered a very supportive learning and work environment, along with faculty who are enthusiastic about teaching and very approachable. She feels the overall environment is very family friendly and encourages work/life balance. She plans on working as an outpatient family medicine physician in the Midwest. Dr. Mezenina's hobbies include spending time with family, hiking/any outdoor activity, traveling, playing piano, drawing and tennis.

  • Shelby Morrison, MD

    Dr. Morrison graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine. She chose Franciscan because of the positive atmosphere she observed while rotating as a student. She wanted a place that would challenge her as a physician but would also support her as a person. The residency is designed to promote wellness both in and out of work and that is very important to her. She plans on focusing on outpatient medicine but also hope to provide services in MAT (medication assisted therapy) for those on the road to recovery from addiction. Ideally, she will stay in the Indianapolis area. Dr. Morrison loves to try new restaurants, so Indianapolis is a great city to explore! She also recently started making stained glass art and has had so much fun creating gifts for her coworkers and friends.

  • Carolina Vogel, DO

    Dr. Vogel graduated from Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She chose Franciscan for so many reasons, but the most prominent in her mind is that when she rotated here as a student, she could tell how much the residents and faculty cared for their patients and each other. Not only did they practice good medicine- they had fun doing it and they enjoyed talking with their patients and spending time together. She would love to keep working in the academic setting with medical students or residents as well as seeing her own patients and doing full spectrum family medicine including OB and OMT. She and her husband run a vintage Etsy shop where they re-sell vintage goods. They enjoy hunting for unique finds on the weekends together. She also loves to read, quilt, and embroider while hanging with their cats.

  • Alex Waldherr, DO

    Dr. Waldherr graduated from Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He chose Franciscan for the opportunities that the residency curriculum offers and the people that make it feel like home. He always felt supported and prioritized as a student and knew that he would be held to a high standard here to become the best, most well-rounded family medicine physician that he could be. He will be completing a sports medicine fellowship at SIU Carbondale next year. In his free time Dr. Waldherr coaches water polo at the University of Indianapolis, plays water polo with Indy Masters, and works closely with the nonprofit he founded to connect aspiring healthcare professionals with opportunities to work at summer camps with children with medical needs. He also enjoys spending time with his fiancée Elyse and their puppy Lennon.

  • Jocelyn Yuen, DO

    Dr. Yuen graduated from Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She chose Franciscan residency for its welcoming family-like atmosphere and the reputation of its preceptors and advisors, who she admires and aspires to emulate. The supportive environment and guidance from seasoned professionals align perfectly with her vision of fostering meaningful connections and honing her skills in the medical field. It’s a place where she not only grows as a professional but also feels a sense of belonging and camaraderie. She is a Canadian food enthusiast, known for her love of eating and documenting culinary adventures on her Instagram, indyfoodfinds. When she is not exploring new eateries or experimenting in the kitchen, you can find her relaxing at home with her two beloved cats, indulging in the simple joys of life. Her passion for food and leisurely pursuits define her vibrant lifestyle.

PGY-2 Residents

Class of 2025

  • Mark DeNardin, DO

    Dr. DeNardin graduated from Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He chose Franciscan Health for his residency because of the culture and environment he experienced as he interacted with the faculty and staff. He thought the program was academically strong and would help him become a well-trained physician. After residency, he plans to stay in the Indianapolis area and practice both inpatient and outpatient medicine. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, son, and daughter (as well as their two dogs and cat), attending community events, visiting local restaurants, following Indiana sports and traveling.

  • Holly Ellis, DO

    Dr. Ellis graduated from Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She chose Franciscan for the friendly and fun atmosphere created by the faculty and residents. In addition to the welcoming environment, she was impressed by the well-rounded training provided by the program. After residency, she hopes to stay in Indiana and practice full-spectrum outpatient family medicine with an emphasis on obstetrics and women's health. In her free time, Dr. Ellis enjoys playing strategic video games, baking and trying new ethnic food.

  • Thomas Geile, DO

    Dr. Geile graduated from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. He chose Franciscan due to the supportive atmosphere and openness between all the residents and faculty. He wants to practice primary care sports medicine and outpatient family medicine. His hobbies include watching and playing sports, especially soccer and golf, exploring new restaurants and breweries and going on walks with his wife and dog.

  • Lucas Huffman, DO

    Dr. Huffman graduated from Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He chose Franciscan Health for his residency because of the family-oriented and supportive culture from all the faculty, staff and residents. After residency, he hopes to practice outpatient family medicine and primary care sports medicine. In his free time, he enjoys being outdoors, watching sports (especially the Colts), exercising, reading and trying new restaurants.

  • Patrick Jeffers, DO

    Dr. Jeffers graduated from Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He chose Franciscan for the faculty, residents, and work environment. After meeting everyone he immediately knew he wanted to join. He notes it truly felt like a home and everyone was focused on lifting each other up. On top of that he felt like Franciscan offered the best training to become an effective family medicine physician. He believes Franciscan has the best people, including all of the office staff, faculty and his co-residents. He also felt the Franciscan program provided the best training in the Indianapolis area with a significant amount of independence. Dr. Jeffers plans to work in an outpatient clinic covering all aspects of family medicine. He plans on staying in the Indianapolis area. Dr. Jeffers plays golf and basketball when he can. He is also a big fan of the Pacers, Colts, and Notre Dame. He watches a lot of Netflix with his wife and two cats.

  • Mike Jennings, MD

    Dr. Jennings graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine. He chose Franciscan Health for residency because the residents and faculty were friendly and created an effective, yet fun, learning environment. He particularly noted how confident and well-prepared the residents were when caring for patients. After residency, he hopes to remain in Indianapolis and provide full-spectrum family medicine. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with friends and family, especially his wife and children, watching hometown sports, being active and spending time outdoors.

  • Nicole LaFave, DO

    Dr. LaFave graduated from Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She chose Franciscan Health because of the friendly and supportive environment among the faculty, residents, and staff. She was also impressed with the strong, broad-spectrum training that the residents receive and the opportunities available to pursue specific interests. She hopes to practice outpatient family medicine with an emphasis on women's health and procedures. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, exercising, hiking, exploring new restaurants, and playing her piano and flute.

  • Savannah Naum, DO

    Dr. Naum graduated from Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She chose Franciscan Health because she wanted a Family Medicine residency that focused on women's health, behavioral health and addiction medicine. She loves that the Franciscan residents are the only residents at the hospital. She could tell that Franciscan cultivates a family environment full of support, which is exactly what she wanted in a program. As of now, she wants to have a future practice with addiction medicine, behavioral health and women's health. She would love to practice in central Indiana and serve underserved populations. Her hobbies include reading, especially fantasy novels. She also enjoys spending time with her husband, friends, family, and pets!

  • Prajin Srivastav, DO

    Dr. Srivastav graduated from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. He chose Franciscan for the faculty, residents, and work environment. After meeting everyone he immediately knew he wanted to join. He said it truly felt like a home, and everyone was focused on lifting each other up. On top of that, he felt like Franciscan offered the best training to become an effective family medicine physician. He hopes to work in a sports medicine setting while also maintaining his family medicine skill set and patient population. Dr. Srivastav enjoys traveling, hiking, golfing, basketball, soccer, football and baseball. He is a Pacers, Colts, and Cubs fan.

  • Tial TinKai (Kai Kai), DO

    Dr. TinKai graduated from Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine. She chose to train at Franciscan Health because she felt tremendous warmth and welcoming spirit from the residents and faculty that she met while she was shadowing. The mission and values align with the type of doctor she wants to be, which is serving her patients with respect. She is planning to get more exposure to both inpatient and ambulatory settings while in residency and then decide where she'll eventually end up. Her hobbies include being out in nature, hiking, running, hanging out with friends and family, traveling, exploring a city and watching Netflix.

PGY-1 Residents

Class of 2026

  • Madison Dolan, MD

    Dr. Dolan graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine. She chose Franciscan because of the wide variety of opportunities available to tailor her education and training, and she chose Franciscan because of the wonderful people! She enjoys spending time with friends, family, and her dog, Josie. She loves trying new restaurants and cooking. In the summer, she likes to garden and spend time outside. She is always excited to try new things and meet new people.

  • Ana Grandinetti, MD

    Dr. Grandinetti was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. She attended University of Notre Dame for undergraduate (Go Irish!) and University of Kentucky College of Medicine for medical school. Within medicine, she is interested in Sports Medicine, emergency medicine, and hospice/palliative care. When she’s not at work, she plays ice hockey with a women’s team based out of Louisville. If the weather is nice, you can catch her outside attempting to golf or taking long walks or hikes with her dog, Rosie. She loves trying new restaurants around town or new recipes at home. She enjoys traveling with friends and family and hopes to see more of the national parks.

  • Jacob Hamaker, DO

    Dr. Hamaker graduated from Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He chose Franciscan because it felt like family to him. His wife, Emily, has been in the program for 2 years, enabling him to see up-close what it felt like to be a member of the residency family, and he was eager to join the team. Additionally, he chose Franciscan because of the positive learning environment and strong culture. There is a lot of responsibility put on the residents, which prepares them well for future practice. After residency, he plans to work in an outpatient family medicine clinic and provide sports medicine coverage for local high school teams. He enjoys spending time with his wife and their 1-year old son, Joey, and his extended family. He is an avid soccer player and sports fan. He also enjoys skiing, hiking, camping, and road trips.

  • Aidan Koch, DO

    Dr. Koch graduated from Campbell University. He chose Franciscan because it has a strong, well-rounded family medicine curriculum that he felt would prepare him to practice full-spectrum family medicine. He is considering a sports medicine fellowship, and chose Franciscan for the top-tier sports medicine curriculum. Overall, he chose Franciscan for the people and the culture. Everyone he met has been genuinely passionate about patient care. In his free time, he enjoys working out, playing tennis, golfing, spending time with his friends, trying new restaurants, and hanging out with his cat.

  • Zackery Rankin, DO

    Dr. Rankin graduated from Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine and plans to work in outpatient medicine and wound care. He chose Franciscan because of the large variety learning opportunities and rigorous training the residency provides. He also found Franciscan’s intern-led services to be a great opportunity to strengthen personal decision making and leadership while still supervised by amazingly supportive upper level residents and faculty. Dr. Rankin’s hobbies include soccer, snowboarding, video games, travel gear, and fountain pens. He and his wife find fulfillment by volunteering as service dog puppy trainers for Canine Companions.

  • Corey Tom, DO

    Dr. Tom graduated from Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He chose Franciscan because it has a very specific culture to where you feel like part of a family in residency. All three classes of residents feel like one large family. The residency training, especially in sports medicine is very strong. Dr. Tom’s hobbies include playing soccer, running, cooking, bouldering, and spending time with his wife, Sara, and his dogs.

  • Amanda Turner, MD

    Dr. Turner graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine. She chose Franciscan Family Medicine Residency because the opportunities that the residency offered aligned well with her interests in family medicine including women’s health, inpatient medicine, and procedures. She knew her knowledge and skills would be challenged, but she would also be well supported by her coresidents and faculty. She plans to practice broad spectrum family medicine in rural Indiana after residency. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, gardening, and helping her husband with home improvement projects.

  • Sydney Ulrey, DO

    Dr. Ulrey graduated from Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine in Knoxville, TN. She chose Franciscan for their strong inpatient services and the autonomy residents are given while feeling supported along the way. She felt that Franciscan had a family friendly culture where everyone enjoyed spending time together both inside and outside of work. After residency she hopes to do outpatient family medicine with a focus on lifestyle medicine and women’s health. Her hobbies include spending time with her dog Milo, and boyfriend Jensen, and going for walks, playing games, reading, and traveling.

  • Courtney Yarber, DO

    Dr. Yarber is a native of Northern California who pursued her medical education at Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She chose Franciscan for its welcoming atmosphere, opportunities for full-spectrum family medicine, and the close-knit relationships among residents and faculty, akin to a supportive family dynamic. In her free time she enjoys reading, crocheting, traveling, and binge watching reality TV.
